3 and 4-year-old Kindergarten is not compulsory in Western Australia.
School-based 4-year old programmes are subsidized under the Federal Government’s Universal Access agreement and WA Education Department funding for up to 15 hours per week. This generally manifests itself as two days (9:00am -2:45pm) one week and three days the next. School-based 3-year-old kindy programmes do not attract Universal Access funding.
SOEL has both 3 and 4 year-old Kindy Programmes in each of our Centres. SOEL Kindy Programmes are delivered in a long day care setting (7:30am-6:00pm, Monday to Friday, 50 weeks of the year) so there is no need for parents to find before and after school care or holiday care.
SOEL Kindy Programmes attract the Child Care Subsidy.
- SOEL 3 and 4 year-old Kindy Programmes are delivered by Early Childhood Teachers and supported by qualified early childhood educators.
- SOEL programmes are based on the Early Years Learning Framework, the same national kindergarten programme that schools are using. Your child will acquire all and more of the knowledge and skills needed for formal schooling.
Our inquiry-led, play-based programmes incorporate carefully constructed investigations through which children develop concepts, knowledge, dispositions, thinking and communication skills, personal and social skills and inquiry skills.
The extended SOEL learning day allows the time, space, resources and educators to deliver curriculum which is purposefully differentiated so that children can develop their thinking to the maximum of their ability and individualised so that children learning in their own way, time and rate.
To get the most out of SOEL Kindy Programmes, children benefit from a minimum 2 days each week.
